The role of the right to object to direct marketing in digital space

Abstract

The article discusses the following problems related to the assurance of proper exercise of the right to object to personal data processing for marketing purposes:
1) concept of “direct marketing”;
2) legal basis for the processing of personal data for the purpose of conducting marketing activities;
3) proper provision of the possibility of expressing objections both before and in the course of processing;
4) ensuring transparency of information about the right to object as part of the information obligations.
