Abstract
The article concerns psychiatric confidentiality regulated in Art. 50.1 of the Mental Health Protection Act of 19 August 1994. The considerations contained in the article refer among other things to: legal aspects of the application of psychiatric confidentiality, object of protection. protected subjects, entities obliged to protect classified information, principles of liability in case of its violation. The specific nature of this duty of confidentiality was stressed, which is manifested in its subsidiarity to patient-doctor privilege. Also the reasons why psychiatric confidentiality was regulated in a special way by the legislators were outlined and discussed.
