Paparazzi’s liability for infringement of personal rights of celebrities

Abstract

Celebrities are primary victims of invading of privacy by the mass media and the basic defence against such violations are legal regulations. The article distinguishes two types of legal regimes connected with celebrity privacy protection (direct and indirect liability) and outlines their advantages and shortcomings. Apart from that, the author has analysed in detail the threats to the freedom of speech and press arising from the direct liability regime.
