Abstract

The aim of this study is to show changes and their legal significance, as well as the effects of the Act of 15 June 2012 on collective management of copyright and related rights (Journal of Laws item 1293), which replaced the provisions in this regard contained in the Act on copyright and related rights of 4 February 1994 (Journal of Laws of 2018, items 1191 and 1293). They introduced new rules for approving tables of remuneration for authors and performing artists (entitled under related rights). Their essence consists in the assumption that the tables submitted by organizations involved in collective management of copyright or related rights may be changed and approved with changes with the administrative effect (instead of a court procedure) by the Copyright Commission and, in the second instance, by the minister responsible for culture and national heritage, taking into account, first of all, the public interest.
