Abstract
Public procurement has a microeconomic character and is an element of the market economy. The essence of public procurement is to meet the needs of the community and, if this is possible, to support economic development. In other words, it contributes to improving the conditions of social life and economic growth. This paper attempts to determine the impact of the value of public procurement on the value of gross domestic product, and on the number of entities operating in Poland. This study consists of two parts. The first part presents the current trends on the Polish public procurement market, while the second part analyses public procurement and its impact on economic growth and the number of entities. For this purpose, the author of the study has used the correlation coefficient and linear regression. The research results indicate that an increase in the value of public procurement has an impact on the growth of newly registered private entities. In addition, the research results show that a lack of public procurement would have a negative impact on economic growth.
