Abstract
The process of verification of economic operators is a very important stage in the procurement procedure as it allows the contracting authority to limit the risks connected with signing public procurement contracts, which is beneficial not only for the contracting authority, but also for the public at large. That is why, in order to facilitate the process of awarding contracts, Directive 2014/24/EU introduced a so-called European Single Procurement Document (ESPD) in a form of economic operators’ self-declaration in which they confirm that they fulfill the relevant selection criteria stated by the contracting authority. The ESDP is meant to replace the existing documentation requirements economic operators had to meet, reduce the bureaucratic burden, and limit the costs. As such, it is a very important step towards unification, simplification, and de-bureaucratization of public procurement procedures in the European Union, especially in those Member States where the legislation forced economic operators to meet extensive documentation requirements.
