Abstract

Liability insurance for the management of companies is an empirical kind of liability insurance introduced to meet the needs of the market, in particular the non-decreasing scale of the actual risk of damage to be inflicted by the insured on the company or third parties. The specificity of D&O insurance lies in that apart from the compensation of damage inflicted by those persons the insurer usually agrees also to reimburse the costs of legal defence and even repair of image losses. On developed financial markets this type of insurance has become a standard, and also in Poland a moderate growing trend has been noted. Especially large companies with a dominant foreign shareholding are interested in this kind of insurance.
