Abstract
The present article attempts to synthetically view the issues regarding the trade ban on Sundays and holidays, its influence on work performance, effects of its implementation and the role of the State Labor Inspection regarding actions aiming at preventing work on Sundays and holidays. The article may also be a voice in the discussion on how far can the state interfere in the area of economic freedom whilst guaranteeing the protection of basic rights of workers.
The purpose of the article is to present current provisions regarding the issue along with the foregoing judicature and the position of the State Labor Inspection after 5 years of the act being in force and to point out the provisions derogating from the implemented rules that still arouse controversy. The article also discusses results and recommendations that may improve the application of the rules for the future.
