Regulatory context of the use of chatbots in financial services

Abstract
This article attempts to identify the key provisions of Polish law that are important for the implementation and use of chatbots (i.e. tools enabling people’s interactions with a computer programme using a natural language, most often over the Internet) by financial institutions. The article additionally outlines the main conditions and legal challenges in selected areas related to the implementation and use of chatbots by financial institutions. The article focuses on the following legal areas:
(1) chatbots as tools for filing declarations of intent;
(2) AI chatbots;
(3) chatbots and outsourcing of financial services;
(4) chatbots as tools for processing personal data of clients of financial institutions.
