Abstract
The article discusses the basic assumptions for the construction of the biometric identity card as well as the possibility for using it in counteracting e.g. theft of identity. Under Regulation 2019/1157, as of 2 August 2021 all Member States will have to introduce a second biometric feature to national identity cards.
