Abstract

If the activity of a branch of a credit institution in Poland is systematically relevant, it may be classified by the PFSA as significant. This may be based on an understanding between the PFSA and the competent authorities responsible for supervision over the credit institution or an administrative decision issued by the PFSA. The activity of a branch of a credit institution is systematically relevant if, in particular, the market share of a branch in terms of deposits exceeds 2%, the number of its clients is significant, or suspension or winding-up of its operations could jeopardise the Polish financial system. An obligation to draw up a recovery plan may be imposed on a significant branch of a credit institution.
