Consumer’s legal situation in the movie theatre

Abstract

The author analyses the problem of legal protection of cinema goers. As a result of the development of audio-visual technologies the methods of presenting movies in theatres are not standardized. At the same time, those technologies are so advanced that their operating parameters are perceptible to an average audience, not only to experts and music lovers. Cinematic services are not subject to special regulation. Cinema goers are not protected in a similar way as TV viewers. However, as a party to a cinematic service a cinema goer is a consumer and thus is subject to the provisions of the consumer law. For this reason cinema operator have certain obligations, in particular concerning information.
