Abstract

Changes to data protection and privacy regulations have made it increasingly difficult for entities such as law enforcement and cybersecurity investigators, who have a legitimate need for non-public domain name registration data (e.g. contact names, email addresses and phone numbers) to access this information. This article provides an overview of the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS), a new tool that connects requesters seeking this information with the relevant, participating ICANN-accredited registrars for gTLD domain names.
