Abstract
A debate on the issues of legal personality of artificial intelligence and selected legal aspects of the General Purpose AI systems regulation was held on 31 May 2023 under the series of meetings organised by the New Technologies Law Association. The discussants were: Dr. Aleksandra Auleytner (Domański Zakrzewski Palinka) as the moderator, Dr. Gabriela Bar (Szostek Bar i Partnerzy), Dr. Damian Flisak (Ringier Axel Springer Polska), Xawery Konarski (Traple Konarski Podrecki i Wspólnicy) and Tomasz Zalewski (Bird & Bird). The discussion was focused on three main problems, namely: 1) current deliberations on the possibility of granting legal personality to artificial intelligence; 2) proposal for the regulation of General Purpose AI, including generative artificial intelligence such as Chat GPT, DALL-E; and 3) transparency of AI systems, including compromises associated with the need to protect the intellectual property rights of the authors or producers of artificial intelligence.
