Abstract

On 1 March 2023, a debate on copyright issues associated with generative artificial intelligence was held at the office of Bird & Bird in Warsaw. The initiator and moderator of the debate was Tomasz Zalewski, a partner at Bird & Bird law firm. The debate was held as part of a series of meetings on the law of new technologies organized by the New Technologies Law Association (SPNT). The participants in the debate were: Aleksandra Auleytner – DZP law firm, SPNT member, Iga Bałos – sPrawna Edukacja, Damian Flisak – Ringier Axel Springer Polska, Paweł Lipski – Bird & Bird law firm, SPNT member, Zbigniew Okoń - Rymarz Zdort Maruta, SPNT member, Agnieszka Wachowska – Law Firm Traple Konarski Podrecki, member of SPNT, Jakub Wyczik – University of Silesia. The debate was devoted to both legal and practical issues related to the copyright aspects of these solutions. The subject of the debate was the assessment of generative AI systems in terms of both applicable law and de lege ferenda postulates. In addition, the participants in the debate discussed how to ensure effectively legal security related to the generative AI revolution in the context of copyright issues.
