Abstract

New technologies are effective in the activities of insurance distributors as they can analyse customer data to provide personalised insurance recommendations. The article discusses legal regulations governing the services provided by robo-advisors in insurance distribution from the perspective of the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). The aim of the article is to examine whether the IDD and the AI Act create appropriate regulatory requirements for robo-advisors and whether they are adequate as compared with the risks they pose to customers in terms of data collection and analysis, as well as the privacy and security of such data.
