Abstract

Autonomous vehicles inevitably become a reality of the present civilization. Along with the development of new technologies new questions arise which are aimed at giving an answer whether the legal systems of European countries are prepared for this new technology. One of those legal aspects is the issue of criminal responsibility of a driver. There is no doubt that the fact that a vehicle is autonomous affects the exclusion of the driver's perception and the modus operandi offences against road safety which are most common. Therefore, an attempt has been made to find answers to some problems connected with the status of a driver and driving an autonomous vehicle which are evidently different from the classical understanding of these concepts.
