Abstract

The article analyses a new regulation of the Polish criminal procedure. The Act of 28 November 2014 on protection and assistance to victims and witnesses introduced a new right for the victim. It is the possibility to indicate a person who will be present during a procedural act in preparatory proceedings with the participation of the victim. That person shall have the status of an appropriate adult who is not a party to the proceedings and functions as a special person of trust. Apart from some reservations concerning certain elements of this regulation, it deserves to be appreciated as it is aimed at strengthening the protection of victims’ interests and guaranteeing the right course of procedural acts.
