Abstract
The article discusses disclosure requirements imposed on banks when they conclude credit agreements with consumers. In the pre-contractual phase consumers are often not properly informed about important provisions of the credit agreement which they are going to sign. The article focuses primarily on building the bank – client – borrower relationship. From this point of view the Banking Code of Ethics was analyzed, as well as the issues arising from the EU Directive (2008/48/EC) on credit agreements for consumers, the provisions of the Polish Act on consumer credit, and internal regulations and recognized ethical standards of banks which are members of the PBA.
