Abstract

The article analyses the compliance officer function in the context of the dynamically changing geopolitical and regulatory situation. The purpose of the article is to discuss the role and challenges faced by compliance officers in organizations as well as their place in cooorporate organizational structures. The education and professional experience of compliance officers in Poland have been also analyzed basing on the detailed data in this area. The key assumption presented in the article is that in the current geopolitical and regulatory situation, the function of a compliance officer is increasingly desirable in organizations regardless of their size and type of business. The demand for those qualified in that area is constantly growing, yet the role of a compliance officer has an interdisciplinary character which goes beyond the strictly legal area.
