Abstract

The article presents the key changes in the provisions regulating the financial sector in connection with ensuring the application of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation). The article focuses on selected issues which are of special importance from the viewpoint of the operations of financial institutions. The framework of the article made it possible to compare changes introduced in the financial markets laws only in the banking and insurance sectors, though it allowed to draw general conclusion and put forth de lege ferenda proposals of changes.
