Abstract

The article outlines the latest amendments to the Tenants’ Protection Act, which are aimed at making it possible for municipalities to meet the housing needs of their most needy inhabitants more effectively than so far. The changes concern primarily the terms for signing a tenancy agreement with respect to a municipal housing unit, the requirement to verify income of members of households of municipal tenants and the possibility of terminating a tenancy agreement by a municipality. The main part of the new solutions will be effective with respect to agreements concluded after 20 April 2019. As a consequence, it will take a long time to see the expected positive results of those changes.
