Abstract
The author discuss firstly the issue of jurisdiction over consumer contracts concluded with use of Internet in European Union, especially the new Regulation (EU) no 1215/2012 (Brussels I Regulation (recast)) and Regulation no 1896/2006. In the article, on the basis of jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice, are explained the meaning of terms: „consumer”, „consumer contract”, „touristic event”, „direct the action abroad”. There is also specified the scope of jurisdiction contracts in consumers cases. In the article are indicated the results of infringement of the protective regulations of the jurisdiction over consumer contracts. Secondly the author indicate chosen aspects of protection of the consumer stated by substantive law – the newly implemented in Poland Consumers Laws Act, especially the information requirements pursuant to article 12 of this Act, opt-in way of concluding the contract, right of withdrawal and the shift of the burden of proof.
