Abstract
The article discusses issues connected with statistical secrecy and protection of statistical micro-data. Statistical secrecy was introduced under the Public Statistics Act which regulates all issues connected with legal and organizational aspects of its functioning. The need to set up statistical secrecy arises also from the EU legislation concerning European statistics. The author also tackled the issues relating to census secrecy, as well as the weight and importance attached by the legislator and the Central Statistical Office to the issues of personal data and identifiable micro-data processed by public statistics and protected by statistical secrecy.
