Abstract
The article outlines major changes introduced by the following Acts: of 27 September 2013 on the amendments to the Code of Criminal Proceedings and certain other acts, of 28 November 2014 on protection and assistance to victims and witnesses, and of 20 February 2015 on the amendments to the Penal Code and certain other acts with respect to victim’s procedural position in the Code of Criminal Proceedings. They are aimed at consolidating and expanding victim’s procedural rights. The article presents major issues concerning mediation, entities having legal capacity, time limit for submitting a claim for compensation of damage, withdrawal of indictment, appointment by court of a legal representative for a victim who is a party in the proceedings, suspension of the run of a time limit for the performance of a procedural act by them, the situation of a victim who does not know the Polish language, the scope of a duty to provide information, final acquaintance with the preparatory files, objection to the motion for consensual ending of the case, anonymization of address data, and the European protection order.
